Image is a testimonial from Mia Violet, Author of Yes, You Are Trans Enough. The text is white on a black background with a light blue border. The testimonial reads: ‘As a trans and bisexual author, I’ve found OmniArts’ queer creatives group extraordinarily helpful on many levels. Performance has always been a weaker area of my skillset (despite the fact that public speaking is part of my job!). The group has gently challenged my comfort level, and helped me learn new skills which I have both carried forward into my current career, and used to expand into new pursuits as a queer creative. Meanwhile, I’ve also learnt new things about queer history due to the excellent and entertaining teaching. Most importantly, I’ve made a wonderful group of new friends in an environment that feels very safe and affirming as both a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and as an artist.’ There is a photo of Mia in the bottom right corner. She has luxurious red hair, and is wearing a silky black dress. She is standing in front of a microphone, laughing.

Our Queer Creatives group is for anyone – LGBTQIA+, including allies, to explore, learn and create queer art – primarily performance, but as with all our groups, the sessions are shaped by the members. Our online sessions are a safe space for all attending to be themselves, learn and improve performing arts skills, and explore different ways of expressing themselves, with full support from the entire group.

As with all our groups, the specific session goals/outcomes are curated around the members, however here’s a flavour of the sort of things we do.

  • Discuss LGBTQIA+ news/issues together
  • Learn about key queer history and figures within queer theatre
  • Explore different types of queer theatre, from across the community
  • Discuss and explore personal experiences, thoughts and opinions
  • Make new and exciting art from our own experiences

Whether you’re a complete beginner or an avid performer, all are welcome.

Every OmniArts GB group welcomes anyone interested in joining, with no auditions. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

To find out more about our policies on inclusivity, accessibility and how we run our groups, please see our policies for all our groups below. When you join a group, you will be sent an agreement, which has these policies, and some extra Queer group specific policies as well.
