Text and photos clipped onto wire across a metal frame with blue fabric. Photos are of nature, hallways, masks, stairs, and a doorway. Text reads: “Liminality is a term used in many disciplines and fields, but in theatre and performance it is described as: “an in-between of potent but dangerous formlessness. It denotes the social non-space in which transformation is experienced and achieved”. In this sense, we can describe workshops, rehearsals, and backstage as liminal spaces. When specifically looking at queer photography linked to theatre and performance: “I would argue that backstage is one of the queerest spaces in a performance setting, whether it be in a professional theatre or behind a divide in a community hall. When we have the ability to witness a snapshot into the emotions, the preparation, the bonds between performers and the moments leading up to performance, this is a queer moment in itself. Therefore, it’s important that the liminality of this space is recognised. Seeing transformations, costumes deconstructed, and scene lists that give credit where it’s due in the steps that are not publicly seen to form a piece of art. Backstage photography has the radical potential to tease, invite, encourage, and document the safe space that is the behind the curtain, regardless of whether the production itself has queer themes or content.” – Ellie Snow”Text and photos clipped onto wire across a metal frame with blue fabric. Photos are of stages, outdoors, and rooms. At the top is a pink card with the text “what are radical spaces?”. Other text reads: “Spaces that abandon societal norms. A place where activism takes place. A positive space for new ideology and a new direction. A space outside of cultural norm, where the part of ourselves we may need to hide can be unashamedly visible. Spaces that are both open and intersectional, that seek to hear out bias and issues.”Text and photos clipped onto wire across a metal frame with blue fabric. Text at the top reads “Member’s Liminality Photos” There are photos with text next to each: The Otherside, Transition, The Bridge, The Long Road, The Borrowers Magic.” Photos are: An arch within nature, A classroom, Concrete steps, A hospital corridor, An open window with greenery & houses outside, A person silhouetted in blue light with a rainbow of light above them.Text and photos clipped onto wire across a metal frame with blue fabric. Photos are of: stages, people performing, dressing rooms, and behind the scenes. Text reads: "in what ways can liminal spaces be created whilst making theatre and performance? Dressing Rooms. Backstage. Rehearsals. Costume Changes. Workshops. The space between the stage and the audience. Constructing the stage/scenery eg: scene transitions and changes”

Below this is the title of the piece “Consensus”, along with the three of clubs and some coins stuck to the mirror. Below this is a long piece of text that cant be read in this photo, and below this are more magic props, including coins, a card with its back facing the camera, and the three of hearts. Behind the mirror is a window. A dressmaker's mannequin, draped in pink silky fabric, with 3 photos, and2 pieces of paper with text on them. The text isn’t legible in this photo. Behind the mannequin a pair of rainbow wings and a handbag are visible on the floor.A table with a dolls house with 2 porcelain dolls either side of it, 5 embroidered marguerite flowers on the roof, and rainbow coloured LED lights inside. A black t-shirt with white embroidered writing on it is positioned to the right of the table in front of two of the dolls. Four photos of a white person wearing a black t-shirt are presented in/on the dolls house. One of the photos they are wearing the marguerite flowers as a beard, and the other three photos they are surrounded by porcelain dolls. Paper with text that has the title "Vox Margo. they/them" on is propped up in front of one of the dolls, and two other pieces of paper are flat on the table in front of the dolls house. The rest of the text is not legible in this photo.A surface, open like a book, with two leaves extending from the centre upwards. The surface is covered in a gold fabric, and the fabric is then draped with thinner bits of orange and red organza, draped in a way to try and create the feeling of flames. On top of this are layed 4 pictures, alternating top and bottom of the suffice, and 2 pieces of paper with text, that is not legible in this picture. The photos are from left to right, a black and white photo of a mannequin in a dress, a desaturated picture of a white leg being shaved, a letter on fire, with the name of the person it was addressed too just being burnt, and a white woman, standing in a woodland clearing. This woman has long brown hair and is wearing a white floral dress, black corset and high heels. A table with a cream table cloth over it. An additional strip of green cloth runs through the middle. The left and right hand side has two empty lanterns, one red and one white. In the centre of the table is a large spool for rope or similar which has been upcycled to look a little like a tree stump. The top of the spool has been covered in patterned fabric whilst the bottom is covered in flowers. In front of this is a feathered mask. On top of the spool rests a piece of paper with some text, which is not particularly legible, and about that the title of the piece “escape, beauty, freedom”. To the left of this is a picture of someone white in a feather mask peering around a tree, above the title the figure holding up a flower to examine it, and to the right the figure looking to the sky, arms open in exultation. In the final image, feathers are visible under the figure's pecs.
